News: Happy Towel Day!!!  Don't forget to carry your towel with you everywhere (yes, everywhere) you go on May 25th.  If you have a camera, snap a few photos of you and your towel, then share them with us on the "Towel Day Pictures" board.  If you don't have a camera, just borrow one from a strag.  After all, the strag will happily lend you, the hitchhiker, a camera or a dozen other items that you might accidentally have "lost".  What the strag will think is that anyone who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still know where his towel is is clearly someone to be reckoned with.

Came close to being stuck visiting in-laws on Towel Day  Shocked.  Let's just say that would be like celebrating Towel Day with Vogons.  (VogonGirl - you are not allowed to repeat that statement Lips sealed)

Anyway, it looks like I will be in Colorado for Towel Day, but no specific plans yet.  Anyone have any plans yet?

LOL
I spent Towel Day with my inlaws once. I brought my towel and made the best of it. They think I'm strange anyway.

Not sure what I'm planning this year. Did you notice Towel Day is on the feast day of The Venerable Bede?  Maybe I'll spend Towel Day translating "Ecclesiastical History of the English People" into Vogon.  Wink

Hmmm, is there an online babelfish translator that converts to Vogon?  There ought to be.

Yeah! There should be. LOL
I found a Tolkien Elf name generator, but no Vogon translator.  Undecided

OK, Towel Day 2012 plans are set!  The zoo!  Cheesy  Even though we did this back in 2008, I can't come up with anything better, at least that involves the kids too (Yes, I suppose the kids could help translate Bede, but I suspect that would only lead to me spending Towel Day alone).

We will be going to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs.  Any hitchhikers that will be in the area, and that happen to stumble on this message, are welcome to join us (you can even join towelday.net and we can work out a meeting time and place).  Last time we did this we ran into zero fellow hitchhikers and so began the "Towel Day Surprise" in which we asked complete strangers to hold our towels while we took pictures of them - see http://towelday.net/index.php?topic=4733.0 for pics and a little more detail on how it works.

Wow, a real Towel Day event. I wish we lived in your area. Guess I'll have to host the Bede translation party at my end.  Wink LOL

Oh gosh, that reminds me, I should post this site on the Towel Day group I'm on at Facebook. Maybe we'll get some new hitchhiker blood.  Cheesy

This Anime/Manga store in St. Louis is doing a towel drive for the local animal shelter in honor of Towel Day.
Cool idea. Of course, I don't live anywhere near there...
Anyway, yay for Google Alerts.  Cool

Yeah, I never even knew there was such a thing as Anime stores. We've got comic book shops, but nothing so specialized. Pretty cool.

OK, Towel Day 2012 plans are set!  The zoo!

*** Zoo plans cancelled ***   Cry

One of the drivers in training featured in our 2011 Towel Day pictures (see Towel Day 2011 pictures thread), now fully licensed, did some remodeling to the car last night with the help of another vehicle  Shocked (not to worry, still no towel tourniquet needed).  Anyway, the car is out of action so we won't be able to make it to the zoo.   Cry

We will have our towels, but we will have to stay in the neighborhood.
